I have:
DVD-ROM X2
CD-RW
Maxtor HD
Chassis
Floppy Drive
Now I think I need a motherboard. Anything else? And, Does choice of motherboard affect the CPU/ RAM?

Yes, the motherboard has to support the type of RAM and the type of processor you choose.

If you can afford it, choose from these four:
Athlon xp 3200
Althon-64
P4 3.2
p4 3.0

Don't get the athlon unless you plan on playing a lot of 3d games.

Jazze, I have athlon and I don't play many games. Works fine, very very fast, and no heat problems. (And more bang for your buck)
(AMD Athlon XP 2800+)

Everyone has differing opinions on which is best. It is just like asking which browser is best.

Then it would have to be the athlon 64 (first 64 bit processor). If you don't want a 64 bit processor, go w/ the the pentium 4 3.2 or the athlon 3200.
