If you site is only 5 months old, you need to give it some time to grow.

New domains are usually in the google sandbox for 6 months.

Besides, google has not updated PR in quite a long time.

Why you don't need a page rank. I think page rank still count these days and still important in getting a link exchange partner or inbound links for a site.

In my experience, higher-PR sites are often found much higher in organic search engine ranking (and for more appropriate key words).

This is true of MSN, Yahoo and Ask as well as Google.

Yes they count ....

but how many times you have seen a smaller Pr site rank high in SE in campre to higher PR sites.

One more thing its not only PR of a site for which you rank for.....

Important is how many times you are linking with the "keyword" fromother pages and there wietage in SE.

again onpage is something also

Google sandbox does not affect Google PageRank. It has an effect on ranking in SERP only.
