Flash Sites and SEO

I know that the rule of thumb is that SE's and Flash sites do not mix, but has that rule been relaxed at all? If not what do you do then? I've seen some pretty slick Flash sites out there, and my first impression is that they will not do well organically. Am I wrong?

Tools or not, I would think people will still tend to avoid using flash on the home page of a site, without incorporating some html or text.

Would you agree?

for me, in designing a site you should know how to balance. right??? just a wild guess, i think those full flash site are also considered as a form of link baiting.... they are trying to attract people.

Mc, I disagree that it's a form of linkbaiting. I find that an odd statement. Melissa, I agree, but Ive seen full blown sites that are completely built in Flash. They can't be performing on the SERP's. So given the choice, I might opt for a flash intro, but not flash based pages.

hehe... i said it's only a wild guess. hehe.. anyways, doing full flash site is hard and optimizing it is even harder..
