As Loren suggests - is there a conflict of interest here?

Now...now! This is something very very weird! Microsoft coming in search marketing would certainly boost the industry!
I see huge job openings in near future, in this SEO industry!

Oh but wouldn't it be fun to see MSN's PR go back down to PR2 for a while.... I wonder what repercussions other SE's might put on them.

So what happens when they get 11 clients chasing the same keyphrase and MSN can't get them all on page one of MSN/Windows Live?

I think MSN would receive allot of negative controversy & bad Public Relations if they go through with it, And Yes performing SEO services while Providing search engine results "IS" a conflict of interest.
At first I thought maybe a sub-contracted company with stiff contractual guidelines, but thats still conflicting & controversial.
Only way I can see around it is NO SERVICES AVAILABLE for MSN Engines... Or simply DON'T Do it....
Either way it's going to impact their Authoritarian presence dramatically - thus losing lots of Formerly trusting consumers votes. Seems to me it would be a catalyst for a downward plunge.
Greedy Corporations normally end up getting the brunt end of the stick in the end - Then comes mergers / buy outs / acquisitions / & hostile take overs (The corporate cycle).

Well, we´re still waiting to see that Google do with Performics, the SEO and SEM agency that they bought when in the package of Double Click... The obvious reason is that it´ll be sold but we´ll see...
