Question about online advertising, is it bad?
Hello, I have been working very hard on one of my sites ( [link removed] ) which is a movie preview site, media driven, but is pretty much optimized. I started adding new content, better colors and design and everything was going great but then I started buying some ads on google, yahoo and msn and since then the site went from 1000 to zero in a week. The only few visitors I get are the few clicks that those ads generate and since the placement is low ( average 10 ) I get very few, I'm really willing to pay 2 dollars per click to visit my site and watch movies. I don't understand, are those engines erasing my links so I need to buy more ads or put more money in the bids? what is wrong, I really need advice here, anything will be appreciated. Thank you! Jenny Berg.

I would like to suggest you to get involve in few nice social networking sites that have specific gruop like you can see there many groups in myspace where people often talk about movie/music and entertainment topics. Also try to get some good affiliate program and target movie/ media and other relevant blogs/forums for promotion, paying some one $ for clicks and for watching movie not going to help you in long run, IMO.

Jenny, first ignore whatever blather that was coming from john smith??/ WTF? and second, I think you have to wait before you piss the money away. Having said that, the site looks ok but I would still add more content, change the title tag, and ease up on the advertising, because your site looks like one big ad site with zero content. It gives the impression that if i click on a link, its going to take me completely out of the site IMO.

If you have some money to spend, why dont you spend it on some SEO ? Buy a few strong links, publish articles, social bookmarking and have fresh content on your site all the time.
in time, that will get you high in the search engine for organic(non paid) visitors.
Good luck. !

Hello Jenny
Do you have their links at your site?
If not, possible that is the reason why
they did remove your links from their
site. And I think you don't need to
buy ads or put money on it, why don't
you try to go for free first.
Directories Submission
Free Classified Ads
Groups
Social Bookmarking
Link Building
Try this all first in free. Then if
you think they are not enough then do
what you like. Hope it help

Your spending money for a short term benefits. What you need is an SEO not just a paid ads. SEO can give you what you expect or even better.

Wait, I miss some infos on your post. Can you send a PM of your site so that I can see it for myself. Anyways, based on what you've stated you shouldn't have problems in the first place because you've already have a product that will surely eye catching. First, you should check your site whether you've been banned by a certain engine like google. If you are sure you're not banned, you should concentrate on building quality links pointing to your site. You can submit your site in several web directories, displaying your url through signatures in forums, involve in quality link exchange.

why spend money where you can do it by yourself, you don't need to buy ads, I suggest to link to the site that are related to yours and submit your site to free directories, social bookmarkings.etc.

that domain is 5 years old yet it is only PR 2. and i check your backlink it looks like you got so many many link from theinternetmostwanted.com. so it might not contribute much to your PR. too much link from the same domain sometime never give you the clear indication of how well you have done for your link building campaign. so you need to look at it. paid link is not a good idea now since google has new policy regarding paid link sites.

Hi Jenny,
I would advice you to follow this equation:
Good content (info, service or product) + SEO + PPC, Paid back links, Forum posts to similar niche, banners, etc. = Great traffic and more targeted traffic!
IMO, opting for paid ways contribute well to a good marketing mix especially at getting targeted traffic. PPC for instance is a very powerful tool used properly. For PayPerClick campaigns, don't just rely on using top keywords for your PPC campaign - this is the reason why others are failing. Bidding on top keywords will yield you less as competition for these are stiff already. The technique here is opting for other long tail keywords that is more likely to yield specific results because specific searches on long tail keywords or phrases are the ones that usually convert. Those who employ such search are more likely to buy IMO.
PPC is a trial and error campaign for newbies. Always test the water before jumping in. Be cautious on how much you bid at first, weigh first what keywords convert in your niche after a test run so you will know what works and what doesn't. There are two ways of bidding - the agressive (high) and conservative (low). This will greatly depend on how much budget you are willing to put in.
It is also a nice option to try out different PPC providers to see what platforms would work best for you
To sum up, SEO is great for the long run and shouldn't be left out. This is a long process and wouldn't always give you immediate results. Premium ways (PPC, paid links, banner, etc) for faster generation of targeted traffic especially if you have time constraints.
Hope that helps
