"But even those that attain the ultimate prize of a number one ranking can’t celebrate for long." - not true, I know many sites who have very powerful single word no. 1 ranks that have held them for seven years or more to my knowledge. So I'm afraid the geeks are stretching the description to fit the metaphor.
