This post was written as an illustration to show how difficult it is to detect a paid link, whether it’s algorithmically or manually. Not everything is always what it seems, so I wonder what factors affect Google’s decision to penalize a website or not.

If you fully Analise the situation with those directories that were banned you will find there is more to the situation than banning them for paid links, much more.

To say they played a big part in their own downfall would be an understatement.

I'm sure there is now way to say if a link is paid or not, if you don't see the money. It's simply not posible and I think this all is a big circus to make the webmasters distressed. Someone has to be punished to make all the other submissive.

yes, iam also have this thinking does really google penalized those who used unethical paid links? , and wondering what are their basis.. in dealing about this, i much better believe about gg rules than putting my site at risk.

They already have type in 'alivedirectory' and 'bigweblinks' you will find neither list for their own name

These kind of stuff will make google's staffs look stupid... They will have a hard time to think or invent a technology in determining paid links.
