SEO wise - Reciprocal links with quality sites still carry weight in PR building so long as you keep it on a minimal level..
Traffic wise - A good source of targeted traffic if you exchange links with relevant sites in your niche..

SEO wise reciprocal links are not useful, but if you can get a couple of high quality sites to reciprocate then it may add up to provide some traffic.

Well, If you want my idea, then its only be beneficial if you link with a web page which can give you some good hits in future. Forget about the future, a new website could also get handsome no. of visitors. But the main issue is that how could you know about your link partner visitors ??
That's why Just go for a relevant website to exchange links.

The idea behind reciprocal links are to share site's resources. What I've on my site is not necessarily may be available on your website. If you could find few good quality sites that are closely related to yours then this will surely addup in your traffic. Like for eg. I've a site which deals with hiking shoes then I might be interested in stores which deals with hiking accessories. Wouldn't that be good bro?
Well think this way, why do we webmasters reciprocate blog rolls? To share our knowledge with our visitors.

i agree with this... but may i ask, "how will you know if you exceeds the limit?"
i mean, is there a maximum number of link partners that you must follow?

" excessive link exchange" is exceeding beyond the limitation..
reciprocal links are good and not bad if and only if the sites are related to your site
however if "most of your links are reciprocal"
that would be the time that we call excessive link exchange..
well that is only my opinion and correct me if i'm wrong

thanks for the idea. yeah i know that. One-way linking is really the best thing to do. But what i am asking is that "what are the numbers that i must follow so that i won't exceed the limitations?"
is it 20 to 30 reciprocal links per link page?
Thanks for your opinions on this..

Same here I was talking about the specific number of reciprocal link at my site., because I was already aware on that thing thing, having a quality link., thats why I'm asking if theres a way for us to know if we were already exceed to its limitation number., or if there was a limitation number for a reciprocal link.,

If your reciprocal link exchange is with trusted .edu and .org site and high PR websites then it is good for you.
But if your PR is high and you are doing Link Exchange with low PR sites then it is loss for you.
