SEO Newbie
Hey guys,
I know how to design a site, host it, and build it.
But my two weaker points are promotion and SEO.
So for SEO - I guess the idea is to help your site gain rankings in search engines for specific keywords (or maybe I'm wrong).
Are there any resources you guys can point me to to get started on SEO.

Hey buddy! Don't fret
The most basic things you could do for SEO purposes (PR and SERP) is link building with quality and relevant sites in you niche. A lot of ways you could do this - via forum posts in relevant sites (via your sig), article marketing and submitting to directories, blogging, etc. Your content will be a major factor in determining how well you will do in SEO.
SEO done continuously will bring in traffic to your site for the long run. If you want faster results and have a budget for it, you can always opt to advertise your site via premium ways thru PPC, paid targeted links, banners, etc.
All the resources you need are here in this forum buddy. We are all ready to help you out

Study the basic of SEO, you can do some research about on-page optimization
and off-page optimization. After all the basic is the foundation of all the things
that you will learn in SEO!

Skysoldier was right... Study the basic seo. From on-page optimization to off-page optimization. The on-page part was the proper way of coding your website, while the off-page part was the link building from other websites to yours.

yeah, do what cricket said. Get to reading, and you will catch on pretty quickly. Make sure you have the right tools... my favorites are:
smartpagerank.com
backlinkwatch.com
seobook.com has some great info as well.
I think its good to go all over the place and read a bunch of different opinions. Read lots of forums... study, and get to link building!
