Seems that a lot of people can't find anything. Perhaps they need to lower their expectations

72.3 percent of Americans experience “search engine fatigue” (either “always,” “usually,” or “sometimes”) when researching a topic on the Internet....When asked to name their #1 complaint about the process, 25 percent cited a deluge of results, 24 percent cited a predominance of commercial (paid) listings, 18.8 percent blamed the search engine’s inability to understand their keywords (forcing them to try again), and 18.6 percent were most frustrated by disorganized/random results.

I agree. Sometimes it is very hard to find what you are looking for.

This doesn't suprise me at all...and most people don't know how to search properly. It isn't there fault...SE's have just become to complicated for the average internet user.

Yup... People nowadays will definitely have a hard time in searching. One thing that comes into my mind was by using advance syntax. For example, using phrases and wildcards. Here are some advance syntax I've found on the net.

Yes: You are right people.
I can understand why people are tired to search:
They are too tired to search because it is to complicated.
Sometimes there is to much to decide between to. (to much assortment)
And sometimes you do not find, what you are looking for because it is not sorted.

It is because you know how to search with the right keyword, but how about the normal user that uses long phrases for their searches? Another one is, google always changing their algo on searching specific keywords.

its hard to search on a specific term/article/information in SERP because there are lots of spam SEO scattered.

Sounds like there is still need/opportunity for directories with strong editorial content and organization.

Another factor is the size of the web: it's massive. It's like a garage sale at the prop department for Ben Hur. How can anyone find anything? Learning to search helps a lot, but that takes time to search for how to search, which can also be difficult. And on top of that the glut of search engines. Everyone wants to be the new Google. So no doubt people have a hard time. But persistence pays off; rarely do I not find what I'm looking for. It's all out there.

If you know how to search properly, you can usually find exactly what you need. However, a lot of people are too lazy to learn, even if you attempt to teach them.
