Search Engine Traffic Dropping - Would Like to Know Why

Please excuse the length of this post.

So I started a blog back in May of this year. The blog was hosted on Wordpress. On Sept 25 I changed my blog to new address and I now have it hosted on a shared hosting site so that I could put up ads. Now I have no clue if I screwed something up or what.

My wordpress.com blog was still up there and I did a redirect to my new address. I recently discontinued the old blog about a week ago. the redirect still works and apparently the old blog has been discontinued. However, it still appears in technorati and search queries.

Also a week ago I removed about 20 posts due to pictures not working because they were stored at wordpress.com and I didn't have backups.

So essentially there's a fair amount going on here. What I've noticed is that search engine traffic has reduced by a lot. I was getting over 200 hits from search engines in the beginning of October and now get about 50-70 a day.

I'm not quite sure what to do in terms of getting it back up. I don't think I have a duplicate blog out there but I'd like to fix the problem.

Please PM me for site details or respond with suggestions.

Thanks!

Don't worry about it, it's only a temporary thing. Sometimes it can take a week to a month if this happens when you move a site. Just keep building content and links and you'll be back to where you were in no time.

just like what MajorTom said it usually takes time... some changes might cause loss of rankings, backlinks and traffic decrease which is usually normal... just keep on optimizing your site...

The removal of some of your posts is one of the possible reasons for it. You just have to wait for some time now until you gain back the previous amount of traffic and don't worry too much about it. Continue site promotion and you'll be back on track

getting lost on SERP for a little time is normal because of deletion of your post, but you must continue optimizing your site.
