Shouldn't I be penalized or Deindexed?

I wont publish the URL But here is the dilemna.

abg.com is the main site but:

ag.org
ae.com
ae.net
am.net

All have the exact same content and mirror abg.com. Right now, abg.com seems to be holding pretty steady organicly at #5 in G, #3 in Y and #2 in M for its main keyword and comes up #1 when searched directly.

My question is, shouldn't we have been penalized for having 4 other URL's mirroring the main site? If so, how come we havent been?

Maybe the search engines haven't caught on yet :-) One can only wait in hope :-)

seriously, I'm not to certain there is actually a real duplicate content filter because I don't see how it could be effective when there are hundreds of press release sites and social news sites that all carry the same content.

If you're worried, just go and make some minor changes. If there is a duplicate content filter, I'd assume it works like a linux DIFF command and it must have to matcha certain number of occurrences, so just changing some basic syntax can defeat the filter.

How long have the other sites been around with the duplicate content.
I would expect a penalty for the dup sites for sure and wouldn't expect them to provide value.

Im assuming that they have been around for awhile. I'm going to do redirects to the mainsite. hopefully as you say, dupe content, doesnt have the same impact as it once did.

Better remedy the problem thru a 301 redirect before SE's find out about them..
