Traffic & SEO

Does the amount of traffic, or the time spend on a website help with the SERPS? I am just wondering what good it would be for me to post a video on youtube if it will only bring me traffic(un-related to my industry).

If you post a video in youtube and if it is your business related then you should to do video optimization. and then that video is useful for getting traffic on your website and also i think your video is also listing in SERP.

inbound links = traffic

quality inbound links = one factor of SERPs

so it means traffic = SERPs... What do you think?

In your first question, the answer is Yes!
And the second one is do you think the visitor will stay longer if they see that
the video you posted is not related to your site, If you do that you will just
trick you visitors.

putting something like you said, a video, that you think might entertain the visitors is nice. think of a way that the visitor will surely watch that video. its much better when its related to your topic.

do not overdo on putting many videos on your site for it will load slower which is very irritating.

Videos can help to your site to let your visitors stay longer., but it must be prior to your site., mean it must be related.,

This will be a win - win situation if I where you. In the first place, if you've attracted your untargeted visitors that only means that your link baiting was effective. And if your worried because they are unrelated to your industry, you shouldn't be, because those unrelated one might be one of your referrers in the future. Just focus on your target viewers and you'll be ok and do link building regularly.
