PR before or after recent G update does it matter?

I have noticed a few link adverts where the PR is being described as one obtained after the recent G PR update. I cannot understand the significance of this. I personally think it makes not difference or does it?

I think they are probably trying to say "hey G didn't penalize us, your link is safe here". That would be my guess.

probably Google sets more standard for obtaining such PR value.

Don't look at PR as an end all, be all for your SEO efforts. It's just one tool in which you can measure your efforts in regards to SEO.

same with redeemer i agree to marthrock. and some site are no totally look for Pr coz Pr can be fake.

Some of my sites have PR reduced but the traffic from Google remains the same or even more.
For me, traffic is more important and I think Google probably has placed less importance on published PRs. Personal view only.

I had similar experience with some of my sites that dropped in PR (Except directories) the PR dropped, but it went up in SERPS

Yes, this is my hypothesis as well, thanks for confirming it. However I don't quite agree that this makes their PR any better at passing it on to sites than does penalize, I'm I right or wrong? (we probably will not know till the net G PR update)

Not at all, IMO the higher your SERP position the better effort's you've done.

I have PR 4 and 3 and went all down to 2's...the more I worked hard and brought so much visitors to my blogs.....the worse my PR goes....I think google hate me for selling links..

b'coz its really hard to get high in SERP..
to get high in SERP you need extra effort

Well since G still updated the pr, I think it still matter.. a lot.
