Does the PageRank determine the Search Engine Position?
I have been receiving mixed opinion on Search Engine Positioning. Is PR one of the primary factors for Search Engine ranking? Currently, my site is PR2 but it is struggling to climb up the SE ladder. I am finding myself feeling pretty stagnant with the amount of the traffic that I am receiving even though I am attempting to raise PR with backlink adds, etc.
Do the number of pages effect the position of a site? I was just wondering because someone mentioned that inbound links help ranking...so more pages connected the better....

No.
It is one factor that is used to determine ranking, but not what I would class a primary factor. Primary factors would be anchor text, number of unique sites linking, and subset relevancy of linking sites.

NO.
Remember, just cause you are working in SEO others in your segment may do the same as well. If you are lazy get a SEO expert to do it for you or outsource it to someone else while concentrating your business. Remember, SEO is an ongoing process and it's not something you can just call it quits and expect to stay around in the same spot.

I won't classify it as the primary factor in SERP positioning cause the on-page factors (content, site structure, anchor texts, keywords use) are the most important followed by link popularity

Indirectly affects rankings as what the CEO of this forum says, not a primary factors in ranking... Since PR is about backlinks and SERPs one factor is also backlinks....

I am 5th for my main keyword of Holland Michigan Real Estate. I have a pr 3. The website that is 2nd has a pr of 1. I wish PR would count for more.

I have websites that rank #1 with PR0, PR1, and PR2, and websites that are PR5 and PR6 that don't even rank on the first page. A couple of the low PR sites target smaller niches, and the high PR sites target more popular keywords, but sometimes the other way around.
I use everything from varying keyword anchors on backlinks, keyword-targeted domain names, deep linking, linkbaiting, signature links, directory submissions, link exchanges, topsites, cross-linking, and several other strategies I don't even think have names yet.

PR doesn't determine the search engine rankings.

Basically, Pang Rank is dermined by the link structure which in turn detremines the original page value. It's not possible for high quality web sites to get higher ranking by Google. Thus Pank Rank funda is simply co-related with the relevency of your page content.
So, note that, to get higher postion in the Search Engine Result's..... PR doen't contribute to fax extent !!!

PR only shows a site's potential to rank well - think of high PageRank as saying that you could rank well, if you put in some SEO effort.

John summed it up pretty well. SERP is also affected by links you build for certain keywords in your niche. If these backlinks your site gains are from site's with high PR - it would do good also in your PR building

There is a more importance of selecting right keywords than pr.

It doesn't determine it but supposedly it helps... but if you're good at SEO then PR shouldn't matter.

ah, finally, now were talking.
give me any one of those high PR low ranking sites below you, tell me which words you want it optimised for and it would be above you a day or 2 after Google next cached it.
PR is important IMO, people mostly just dont know what to do with it.
