Exchangings links without link pages

I recently quit exchanging links with a link page after reading this article by Google:

Can I still be penalized by Google for exchanging links on my homepage without a link page?

Does this article mean that reciprocal links is bad? Or does this article mean that you should watch for the "quality" of the links. I may have misread this.

reciprocal link is not bad as long as it's related to your site. and also yes the quality of the links.. "site"

My own understanding about this article is the reciprocal link exchange is not total bad all you have to do is to link the site which relevant to your site. And the best way you can do to get to other site is you can create a unique content to gain link popularity and to be popular in internet community.

I think the real point is that recip linking is not bad and it obviously occurs naturally. However, recip linking just for the purpose of inflating page rank is bad. How they are going to determine that, I don't know.

Actually Link exchange is one of the source of gaining IBL for your site just focus on related site thats why its not that bad to exchange link with others.

as i understand Google's Link Schemes, reciprocal linking is not bad at all if you'll do it in properly (i.e. exchanging links in min. amount and choosing the right link partners)

one thing more LE is a big help to a certain site., but you should put in my mind that it not just an LE act that gather so many links which are not related to your site if that the case you will bringing a big help to your site else you give it a big threat., So you must done it properly and accurately as Aira said., and one thing more be careful.,

Linkexchange is not bad as long as it is not done excessively and linking only to related sites.... The google wants is to build your backlinks the organic way...(IBLs rather than OBLs)

Just look for some quality sites that are related to your theme.... that's the best tip...

Exchanging links are okay as long as it is not too excessive in anyway.

By the way I have visited your link page, if you decide to take that page out you should be notifying those webmasters that you are doing so by the way...

There is nothing wrong with exchanging links, even if they are reciprocal. Just don't indulge yourself too much in it, and more importantly keep them relevant and only link to sites your visitors may find helpful.

Big g will do what they want and people will continue to do what they want just don't get carried away with linking to each other sites to much and you should be fine.

You can still do link exchange but make sure that it is related to your site. Do it in a regular way not in excessive way.
