Changing part of Title tag-risk of loosing serps?

My site's title tag is like this: "Main keywords-some other keywords".

Now, it ranks no.2 for "Main keywords" but it ranks nowhere for "some other keywords".

I want to change "some other keywords" and target less competitive term in order to grab some more SERP's traffic based on current link popularity of my site.

Am I risking to loose rank for "Main keywords" by doing this?

Sometimes you have to take risk for improvement.. If you think that changing your Title is the best way to rank higher with your other KWs - go for it.. keep in mind that it'll take sometime to achieve your previous (or higher) ranking when you do some site changes especially with the Title part..

Like aira, go on take the risk but you must be ready for the consequences or even the benefits of the changes you are planning.

thats right... any changes can really change rankings... but if this is necessary and can improve your site.. why not.. just what im thinking right now.. though im not really sure what to expect...

there is nothing wrong to change your link if that is the right thing to do, definitely it change your ranking but it can be back if you work for it.

it is important to stand by your decision regarding this issue of yours. for sure, it'll take some time for you to achieve your expected results after doing this changes. just be patient and don't ever regret anything as you decide to do it because you can't change it back again.

I didn't realize that changing title tags has such an effect. Is it really a risk to change them? I thought Google's main think was incoming links?

Sure. I still didn't change it but will do very soon and let you know after a week or so.

A good on-page can lead your site to SERP's together with quality inbound links and G may also give you a good PR for exchanging links!

I think you will have a problem with that, if you change your title tag that is ranking surely you will make the SEs reindex it again... You will build again links for that.. That happens to my site when I change my title... So I begin from zero and I let SEs index me again.. Today, I'm ranking.. However, you can try it because since we know that SEO is trial and error... We don't know the SEs algorithm but we can still do the SEO procedures that really works and effective....

I just did the same thing...you have to take the risk if you want to rise up.

Well it is gaming site, so it is the worst time to do the change right now(holidays). I will do the change when school starts again. I think I will loose less traffic that way.

Would you not be better off creating new pages that includes and targets the other keywords like an article on your blog?

You can not have the home page of a website full of keywords just to rank well. It will actually break the meaning of the website altogether so better is the break that page in more pages and link them from the main page.

Changing your title will loss your SERP. If you think you must change your title then go for it but take the risk in return.

If you change title tag . it ll hurt ur search engine positioning.because search engine ll have to reindexed it and after sometime you will get ur previous ranking.
