What would be the more important thing in analyzing a website statistics - Unique Visitors or Hits?

Looking for some intelligent replies.

unique visitors but see also your visitor's activity, see how long they stayed on your site, if its 0 sec. then its useless

Unique visitors, since we know that it is easy to generate hits of a site when using automatics softwares for that.. This unique visitors are visitors from different IP's and you can generate hits from the same IPs...

Unique visitors is much more important than hits because it counts on the time frame of the each visitors and how long do they stay on a site. Unique visitor is a visitors that navigate informative data in your site.

Visitors, as everyone says.

If you have a page that contains 10 pictures, 1 visitor to your page produces 10 hits. If you have 20 pics, 1 visitor makes 20 hits. Hits doesn't tell you too much at all.

It's the unique visitors more important that hits. More unique visitors means your site is pretty much exposed.

Unique visitors is just an indication, it doesn't mean they will convert into sales proportionally. Some marketers will tell you the opposite, but it is not so simple.

Sometimes I convert more sales with less unique visitors.

Conversion ratio, metrics etc... are just marketers arguments, all of this is subjective, there is not a true formula.
