three letters
I wonder if it's good for SEO to use a domain that consists of three letter. Is it wise for search engines?

I think there is nothing wrong with that as long as it's well optimized. Especially if you have informative and unique contents.

URL
I wouldn't go with a three letter domain. It has been my experience that when your url contains a keyword or two it makes getting high placement very easy. For example if you want a site devoted to letting people sell their bmw's then sellmybmw.com would help get natural #1 placement when someone types "Sell my BMW" in a search. That's extreme, but if I think having you main keyword in your url really helps, I just wouldn't go crazy with it.

it depends whether three letter domain are sufficient to describe the theme of your site for eg. seo.com is sufficient to describe about search engine optimization but if they are not sufficient then there is nothing wrong in using long domain

andrewdawson is right..it doesn't matter if your domain consist of three letters as long as it supports or describe your site.. According to article that i've read, sometimes it's good to have 3 letter domain. the shorter the domain name, the better because shorter domains are, the more memorable and people are less likely to misspell them.

As long as this 3 letters domain name is specific, like for instance, cat.com or dog.com.. Just be sure to match your domain name to your content.
