Need help solving mystery

A fellow blogger has put out a call for help and I know some of the best SEO talent anywhere hangs out here... any clues and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Here's his call or help.

Strangely enough this site - which used to rank #2 for the search “Eric Olson” - is now wiped from the record of that search (realized it from looking at my referral traffic in my FeedBurner site stats - in fact, all my search traffic pretty much dropped to zero for any term). I can’t figure out how or why that happened. I am hoping maybe someone out there can help me understand where I may have went wrong or how Google may have missed me. Please comment on this post if you have any ideas.

Believe me, I know I am not the most important Eric Olson in the world but I figure my site should turn up in the first handful of results for my own name. Is this because I am now a Xoogler? C’mon guys… I still love “the Google.”

His site is Olson's Observations and his name is Eric Olson. Google seems to have lost track of him and his site.

Appears many inner pages ARE indexed, but main site is being shunned. ?

I think we have the same problem., before when I search my main keyword., my site was visible it was ranked as number 2 but suddenly this past weeks when I search it., it's no longer visible., what visible are those blogs sites where my blog was submitted at.,

Did you happen to install any new template or new features/widgets in last week or so?

I think you need to track what you've done in the last few weeks and check if
what you are doing is still effective or not.

usually normal... happens maybe the kw "Eric Olson" is use in some way like using at profile name in other site... which SE crawled as part of the site... target/expose more your name as kw in your site....

I didn't do anything on it., it just happen like that but I wonder because when I search in yahoo with the keyword ultimate xbox 360 it was ranked number 2 but in google I can't see it.,

Who says the site is about/by Eric Olsen? I say this because I only see the Eric Olson in on eplace on the site (besides his recent post asking about Google ranking drop). Not even his "The Author" page lists his name.

To look at his domain name, I'd think his name was "Eric Johnolson". Seriously. And if you type "ericjohnolson" into Google, Google thinks his name is "eric johnson".

So he needs Eric Olsen written on his site some more...in key areas.

Tell him to change the name of the "The Author" page to "About Eric Olson". That will help a lot.

Also change the title tag of the home page from "Olsen's Observations "to "Eric Olson's Observations".

Make those change alone, and I bet you see his ranking come back in a couple weeks.

try to change the title tag that appropriately describe about your site
and change meta keyword and description that describe the content of home page and inner page
