Yep, some people should use their knowledge for a good cause instead doing bad things.

IMO, SEOs that does unethical strategies are just spoiling the SEs. They wouldn't care about the consequences at all, for them, its all about fast results and money.

That such sites manage to make it on the first pages of the SERPs only shows how vulnerable the search engines really are, how vulnerable their algorithms I mean. I'll always wonder how these people find the time and money resources to engage in such practices. And for what? For a moment of glory? Is that really worth it?

Ouch.....so I guess one of the important things to do when you are searching on google is not to use those rarely searched terms?
Is Google powerless against them?

It's been referred to as "Google poisoning" or "SEO poisoning," and it's no wonder. A potential victim, who might not have all of the patches their system really needs, performs an innocent search on Google - on the phrase "Christmas gifts" in hope of ideas, perhaps, or even "hospice" to get information for a critically ill friend or loved one. Clicking on a link leads to a site which prompts them to install the latest ActiveX control, or possibly to get a free scan for spyware. And that's where the trouble begins.
|
My advice is if you land on a site which prompts you to install something, do NOT! install anything.

Makes sense to me... like not clicking through a paypal phishing link, instead go to the source. If you want ActiveX or whatever, get it from the source, not from another site.
Its still scary though.
