Link Building for SEO

Link building is the key for an effective SEO campaign. This works best for PR and SERP. Always provide useful and relevant content in your websites niche as this will help in quality organic linking - sites will naturally link to your site once they see unique and helpful information in your site. Keep in mind that the more targeted backlinks you build for your site, the more likely it will bring in the right visitors that could make the conversions for better revenue. You do targeted link buidling for fast and long term traffic to your sites.

There are several ways to build links. Here are just some of the following:

Directory Submissions - targeted links at high PR directories
Blog and Forum Postings - to high PR and frequently crawled sites
Social Bookmarking
Classified Ads
Article Marketing - submit to high PR directories, could also serve as link baits
Link Exchange - with relevant and authority sites
Link Baits - for organic linking
Etc. etc.

What are your thoughts? What kind of link building method do you use and how effective has it been?

I will go for 5 basic methods:

- article submission
- directory submission
- social bookmarking
- press release
- search engine submission

Well blog commenting and forum participation is also a good idea.

Varying anchor texts on my keywords to build natural links, submitting to quality directories and keep away from penalized one, joining and posting stories or articles on social bookmarking sites especially a popular one (SB Sites)....

Another way to get some valuable backlinks is to ask for them. I've gotten some good oneway edu and gov links this way. It's time consuming but well worth it.

Really you got oneway links form .edu and .gov sites???, can you give us some tips on how you got links from these sites....???

Coolguy has almost got you everything.

A few that I would like to add are... Press Releases, Donate to a charity and they would like to your site, Donate for a good cause some open source research etc.

ahm, I'm focusing more on providing quality content for my blog and links come naturally and I considered it best because its related and its one-way...

Do some searches on some high ranking competitors in yahoo:

linkdomain:mycompetitor.com AND (site:.edu OR site:.gov) -site:mycompetitor.com

Here's a couple that you can try

http:// www.cbt.edu:8080/autolinks/addlink.php

Look for resource pages and pages on subdoamins.
