dman, I already did that - had the toolbar and my site is my homepage. Guess I was accidentally doing the right thing.
The reason why I am interested in ranking high in Alexa - my site is an e-commerce site, I want to give off a professional look and add value to it down the road. It's not a casual site or a blog. I figured, what better way to add some value to your "internet piece of land" than ranking higher in Alexa? Down the road, I'm hoping that it will translate into better sponsors and advertisements, and who knows, maybe someone who wishes to purchase from my site will base their trust on my Alexa rank.
I think I should pay attention to Alexa. It's nothing extra out of my time and the toolbar at the bottom of my screen doesn't bother me at all. And it might be just that little extra push to beat my (almost non-existent) competitors and sit one step higher up.
