Question Google Searches to the Tune – Will VOOGLE catch on? You decide!

How many times have you hummed a tune and thought?

- What the hell is that tune?
- Who is the band?
- Who sang it?
- What’s the name of that ruddy song?

If (like me) you simply do not have a clue about music but love it, it can be a real pain in the backside to try and find the song that is still humming away in the middle of your brain.

What do you do, seriously…….the only thing left to do is phone up a mate, sing down the telephone and pray to God that they don’t laugh and take the……well you get my drift.

Then along came – Voogle* – the Voice Activate Google Search Engine that will actually allow you to hum away and find that damn song.

Does Voogle have the X-Factor and is the next step in 3rd / 4th Generation Search Engine Software – YOU DECIDE.

As for me, I am still humming away, with not a clue who the hell sang that song or what the band is called, so come on Mr Google (Page / Brin and Schmidt ) get a Voogle on and let me get that song out of my head

Your views please.......

I can usually find the song by just typing one line from it in Google.

How would you make software complicated enough to have a library of millions of songs and the ability to listen to a crude tune and match it up properly?

Why is it called voogle? I searched for voogle but none of the result were related to the thread topic as described.

here's what I've got instead

Hi All,

Many thanks indeed for your replies and the way it would work would probably through the use of a language model, phonetic dictionary and acoustic models. A server (servers) generates an n-best hypothesis list or word graph, a little like how the search terms are weighted.

Imagine the value this could bring to persons not only interested in music but the wider audiences, such as those that cannot use a keyboard, or those that struggle in spelling and many things more beside.

I think we will see the birth of Voogle within the next 24 months.

By the way - Voogle is obviously a very secret affair which is why it is not visible within the web as this small whisper came from another source...........:-)

Please write back and join in to be part of what could be a generation breaker in technology within both the SEO market but in information gathering and retrieval as we know it.
