Domain name spam

Hi,

Domain and sub domain spam is rife at the moment and something that is really starting to get my back up. Surely 99.9% of the rubbish that we see in certain SERPS is avoidable. I've had a good old [link removed] rant on it and put in some examples of why I think this sort of thing is preventable. Would love to here some feed back from some one at Google web spam team.

Bogs don't you think it would do more good to paste your sig (link) all over the place in a forum with mostly women in it? Why don't you change your name to missybogs and reply to everything in the PMS forums :-)

What you call domain spam may not be what I call it.

I consider domain spam registering two domain names that are both pointed to the same site with the engines. That was a big penalty at one time, Now the engines just pick one and the other slowly goes away.

If you are talking about a domain name or directory with a keyword in it, it's actually given less weight now then it used to have. In fact the page name doesn't make much difference anymore.

I don't even bother with it anymore. But I used to ;-)

there are lots and lots of domains that contain the same domain name but differs in tlds.

Subdomain spam - to "TRY" to increase the standing by using subdomains with keywords in them - example Ebay has cornered the market on it: ebay.com, subdomain.ebay.com, spam.subdomain.ebay.com, popular.spam.subdomain.ebay.com, etc.

Is it effective and is it real?

It is certainly one of the below:

#1: pathetic relevancy algorithms by used by Google

#2 : eBay's overall ad spend, and the associated trust and clout their brand and ad spend bring to anything associated with them.
