Jazzee you've really helped me out on my sites and wanted to return the favor. Added it to the footer on PregnancyLounge and SureBaby. Wishing you and John lots of luck!!

Seriously... and I think the only real concern was that people were joining the forum and posting in this thread soley to increase their sites serps... not because they stumbled across this great forum......

Re: nigritude ultramarine
FYI - I'm an admin on this forum. I know full well what new members mean to this forum - and I encourage new members. I find it funny that some of the "new" members were posting links to their own contest entry page in the very thread that we were using for our entry.
And the end result isn't for the ipod - it's for the monitor for Jazzee

i am sure the forum administrators here realize the long-term benefit of such contest exposure.
...and i am also sure that they all realize that any new members...regardless of their motivation...are a good thing...in the long haul.
if this forum has bountiful information and resources to offer...
...then these
new' members will likely be 'converted' to full-time participation and contributing members here.
that is a very positive thing for this forum.
not a 'funny' thing at all.
this point was pretty much the theme of my post here:
http://www.internet-marketing-resear...topic8084.html
so i would not be too quick to dismiss these new member posts as of no value to the forum here or as only offering a short-term benefit to the poster.
these new members have no less right to decide what links are in their signatures than you do....competition or not.
.

most of the links which are causing the rankings are being evaluated by search engines, but they are not necissarily going to show in a backlink check just yet. many of the pages from the competion have only been made within the last week or so

it's part of the competitive game. if they need to do that to have a chance to win then let them. few other people in the competion are web hosts with a community following around it...if you ask me, that means they have a big hill to climb just to be on par.
I mean some of the sites that are helping out this thread are no joke big internet sites. GoGuides giving 60,000 inbound links...stuff like that from a few strong sites is really really powerful.

True enough, true enough... I guess my 250-300 links aren't doing too much help, then, eh? Every little bit counts though, and damn it, I have heart!

we are displayed as pagerank 0. Google updates pagerank way more frequently than they update displayed pagerank.
there is well over a hundred thousand links (millions if they would spider all of stoner's site) into this page. google has not reindexed all of them and spidered all of their links.

if it was for a competitive keyword
it would of affected the exisiting market place, which isnt fair for the sake of a competition.
secondly..
Its my opinion that nigritude ultramarine is now one of the "most" competitive keywords currently, or close to it, as a result "OF" the competition,
as I understand it. this competion has affected the marine market somewhat, which Im assuming was of course non intentional
Just my 2 cents worth
Pete

Wouldn't it put people in a flat spin if Google banned the keywords and all sites lose rank
Anyway after a bit of self diliberation I decided to give the comp a go. Started a couple a days ago on page 10 then now up to page 5. I am enjoying this as I never had such a good challenge and it is good to see the buzz that it has caused!
Do they run these types of competitions all the time?
May the best SEO win

Can anybody explain why this page ranks 2nd in the Google search results for nigritude ultramarine? My confusion is because when you do a link popularity report for this page in Marketleap.com, you will see that Google has found 0 links to this page.

Hey SR..
totally agreed.. Ive enterd it.. waiting on my pages to get indexed..
cant wait to see where they end up.. not going for anything close to the top.. just intersted to see where I end up
its been exciting to see how many webmasters are involved.. and how many webmasters are getting to know each other via it etc

most of the links occured too recently for the search engines to have them already show up as backlinks.
