Microsoft to buy Yahoo

Now all over the news wires ( and I can't post a link yet) but Microsoft has made a 45Billion USD offer for Yahoo. Sure happy I didn't buy a listing on Yahoo's directory.

At the same time, Google missed expectations.

This will be an interesting year.

If someone has YAHOO shares, congratulations, their price is 48% up because of the offer, to $28.2. I think the Microsoft offer is $30 per share, which had a premium of 60% over the trading price

Oh, MicroHoo,
As I remember when the Microsoft bought Hotmail they tried to move everything from FreeBSD to IIS. I wonder if they will do this again.

That sounds cool Microsoft can do some cool things.. We shouldn't all be so quick to knock them. They helped shape our computer world whether we like it or not. Truth be told I never use Yahoo or Microsoft website.

I shouldn't be surprised. MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger have been talking to each other for a long time.... they must have been dating... and now, Microsoft has proposed to Yahoo. What will yahoo say? (insert dramatic cliffhanger here). Find out next time on "The Search Engines of our Lives."

Unigold is an unknown quantity at this point
"Microsoft officials believe that the combination of the efforts of two companies would allow Microsoft to reach a US online audience of 142 million comparable with 124 million for Google. " - http://ecommerce-journal.com

As for me i think google will be the first even after merging of MSN and Yahoo.

Well, Microsoft's not the only one in danger of being called out again for doing that. Google currently controls around 60% of the search engine world, while a combined MS/Yahoo would control only around 30%; I take it that's quite a monopoly they have going there (I hear the EU doesn't like this more than the USA).

Just a thought.
