Not in most cases, unless you are down for an extended period of time during the transfer.

I am sure there are exceptions to every rule, but I have moved one heck of a lot of sites over the years and have not yet had a single site affected by the move. (Knock on wood!)

Ask the stratus group. I told them before the move it was rare that it happens but it can happen. I would do everything I could to prevent it. It happened.....

They moved from their ISP because of an arguement over a couple hundred bucks.
They dropped like a rock. Took me many months to get them back and everything was ok with the IP, DNS server, etc.

The search engine gods are just not always just

But in most cases when they drop the host gives them a IP that was used by spammers or a porn site in the past, or people go from a static ip to a lame virtual that is messed up.

When there are hundreds of thousands of dollars involved I warn um and let them make the decision....

Later I asked the CEO if it was worth the move, he said, he'd have lost a million rather than give that ******* another penny.

I don't think it would have any negative impact because what is the logical reason to have one.

Nope but changing anything in the content may affect your rank

I was thinking it would have a slight effect if your new host is situated on a different region/country. Experienced this once. But it wasn't that long before the rankings caught up.
