Link directory and Google

I currently have a static HTML page which I use for reciprocal link exchanges.

This is strictly used to link between related sites and at present is manually edited myself. I now find I have less time to manage this page and have been looking into implementing something like phpld to manage my link exchange.

However, will Google see this as a bad thing and think I just have an automate system to accept all links rather than being manually edited?

I think the key is in the relevancy of the links. As long as the links that are in your link exchange pages are relevant you should be fine. If, by implementing the phpld some non-relevant (and potentially harmful) links will sneak in, it´ll flag up Google alerts

I would remove the link directory from your website and use a link directory from another site don't use your own site thats silly thing to do Google will zap your site in a heart beat specially here latly as strict they have been getting.

try to create a content on that page saying the purpose of that page so that google would not think that its bad thing and think It just an automate system to accept all links.
