I think the word "Email a webmaster, and ask for a link" gives emphasis to link exchange. This is a huge list of how to get backlinks, and it's up to you if you use your money in order to gather links or you only choose the free one.

I really don't consider Digg to be a solid Backlink, but I do agree it that it will cause servers to melt when you get the front page.

Places like Mistwong.com have been great places for back links.

Does anyone know if you post to ezinearticles, if they have nofollow on the sigs or if it counts as a backlink?
