How do frequent updates effect google indexing?

I noticed that sometimes my blog is being indexed rapidly. For a new post in 10 minutes the page shows up in google. Other times it takes a day or two. I think the reason is that google bot comes back when I am making alot of frequent posts, but if I only make a new post once a week then googlebot will not come as often.
Can someone shed some light on this and let me know exactly how it works?

Probably Authority issues...

The more you post content the faster the search engines will hit your site..

Agreed. In the Google webmaster tools, you can get a glimpse of this by the "crawl speed' setting. If google determines that your content updates often, you can switch the crawl rate to "fast" otherwise your stuck with "normal" and "slow."

Any content posted on the internet whether it be little or large it is indexed in Google in a short time span as that is how the Google bots crawl making it a fast search engine in terms of updating information.

Also like said if you keep posting frequently the spiders also visit regularly on the site and that is the reason that news sites are always on top of the search terms of any particular keywords which are present in their content and searched by an user.

Most blogs pings Google SE when you make a new post, the reason the article gets indexed very fast but recently this seems to be a slower process than before.
