What is your favorite way to gain backlinks?

There are lots of ways to gain links for your site. What ways do you prefer? I started a discussion on my blog here.

--What is your favorite way to gain backlinks?--

Here are my favorite:

1- I write a detailed article about a topic related to my site’s theme and post it only once at a high traffic article site.

2- I like to blog about uncommon things that grab people’s attention and make them think.

3- I will put my link in pay directories that only list value-adding sites with no keywords in the titles.

4- I also contribute to fellow blogger’s discussions with the intent to help them. Helping others brings benefits.

I like doing quality link trade... forum posting is also the easiest way to gain backlinks...

Forum posting is the favorite for me to get backlink. the other method I like is article marketing. I'm still have poor writing so can't use it in full force. Need to write more and more to quickly be good at it.

Do you guys submit the same article to many different sites or one article per site?

Redspace- there are always writers available here in the forum who can do it for you.

Ya I wish I could use some of their services. But can't do that at the moment. So I guess I got to be better at myself. Actually I want to be a very good writer. There are so many things in my head I want to let it out but this handicap make me put things off a bit longer. So I might as well learn how to write otherwise the longer it get stuck up there it would be worthless.

You don't need to be a good writer but need to learn the correct grammar and some points in writing article. You could ask for help in the forum and article directory which has knowledge in article writing. It is not worthless if you are not good in article and there is other ways on which you can improved your knowledge and skills in SEO.

I agree that article marketing is an excellent way to bring backlinks to your site. I have written an article and submitted it to an article directory, when I typed in my URL in Google I was surprised how many sites my article was on. Webmasters will use the article for content for their site but they have to keep the resource box intact. This benefits me and gives me more backlinks.

I love to check competitors backlinks using www.domain-pop.com (backlink checker) tool.
Also, www.directorycritic.com is a good way for find niche directories.
