Lightbulb White Hat SEO guys using Black Hat Strategies

There's an article on thegooglecache.com about how white hat SEO guys can use black hat strategies to make their White Hat SEO methods more effective.

The article says that, in essence, you can use black hat strategies on a dummy site to research what can work most effectively for your white hat SEO'd site. (The article can be found here).

Thoughts on this?

They are called grey hat then, because it is a mixture of white hat and black hat techniques

Well, technically, they're not mixing both techniques for one site. They're using black hat techniques on a dummy site to figure out which keywords / niche can work effectively for the real site they're going to SEO, using white hat methods.

That's what you call trial and error. Nice strategy.

Yes, but Google is constantly changing its rules to catch up and punish BH techniques. Something that worked on a dummy site a while ago may be punished on the actual site today.

Good article, thanks.

You don't use these techniques on your whitehat sites, you use separate sites for this purpose, either for research purposes as the article suggests or to funnel traffic to landing pages in a safe way. The blackhat sites are disposable because they are so easy to replace.

Thumbs up

When you are following white hat techniques it's good but if you follow some black hat techniques to get more good results you will be penalized but sometimes it is needed because nobody can claim that they are following all white hat techniques.
