301 redirect and URL hierarchy
Sorry for so many 301 questions, the realm of the 301 redirect is very confusing to me.

Let's say you have a site with many internal pages of importance that you wish to redirect to your new pages on another site...

/section/category/page.html

The minute you 301 /section/ or /section/category/ you are unable to redirect /section/category/page.html ?

I tried 301'ing a long URL like that, but since the main URL of the site had a 301, I found I could not 301 anything further down in the URL hierarchy.

If anyone could shed some light on this for me I would be very grateful.

i think you should read this... http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php
and then try to check it if its right...
