he was talking about a filter applied to links which are either new or unnatural in nature. they can pattern match for text or IP address or a bunch of other stuff.

right now they are trying to minimize the amount of rank manipulation occuring due to link buying

they have blocked pagerank on some sites
they have delisted sites that were openly selling pagerank
they have even penalized some sites that were buying pagerank
now they are making the pagerank buying market even more muddy by partially parsing link value and creating filters

people do not know a ton about the filters because they are so new. google will most likely not lift that sort of a filter until link buying is not so prominent or they find a better way to combat it.

Basically, including this forum, I probably have 2000+ forum sig links with the same anchor text... plus both of my sites are new... do you think the same filters are being applied to me?

Is Bluefind, then, being penalized for having so many links from one site?

bluefind is not necissarily being penalized, it is just not getting full credit for all of its links since most of them come from the same local network area (internet.com), started around the same time, and have the same text.

the way to override some filters is to vary link text and keep working on link building from various sources.

don't look at it as being penalized, look at it as receiving partial credit. instead of worrying about how to override a penalty it works better just to keep adding more links from various sources in a logical manner.

Partial credit... I like that. So basically, to get around it is to continue to adding more links from various sources... good advice awall. You da man. I'll keep everyone posted on my virgin climb up the serps.

Anyhoo, I've been reading a lot about the google sandbox theory from various other sites, and it seems most are in agreement with our own JohnScott about what exactly is going on, where the site itself is not being penalized, but the "new links" are what have to go through the sandbox before counting... Has anyone else from this forum seen something similar with their new sites?

The filter issue looks interesting, but most likely useless. I even cannot get it working for my keywords. Also if the filter starts the older algorithm, the SERPS with the old algo are not practically important.
