Seo Question

I am planning to add downloads section to my website, my website is seo compatible but download script doesn't have seo. Anyway,

Which one is more seo friendly?

downloads.domain.com or domain.com/downloads

I couldn't be sure which one i should choose so it would be best seo friendly.

There is not much consensus on which is better, and it depends on the circumstances.

Downloads.domain.com would be treated as a different site by search engines.

It seems that #1 option is much more better. I think that you have to understand that this can requries to change web hobhosting. Changing web hosting is very important issue also for SEO.

Well......2nd option- http://www.v7n.com/forums will be better choice as spider consider it as a part of your main domain while adding it as -

downloads.domain.com

will be adding it as subdomain and spiders consider a subdomainas a different domain.........

for example a blog on blogger .com- mydomain.blogspot.com is totally different form main domain.......

So now its up to you which on you go for I have explain here as I think that's it.......

choose the second option...adding certain section to a site is much more advisable than creating a separate domain only for it.

Subdomains do NOT receive any benefit (such as pr) from their parent domain simply because SE's treat sub domain as a separate site, this means that you may end up placing more then 4 links between sites and end up penalized for cross linking...

Second option

The first one ( sub domain ) is more like starting a brand new site, where as the / is just a continuance of the site and page rank will flow naturally as well as authority!

Unless you have a reason to want the downloads on a sub-domain then you should use the second option. The sub-domain will be treated as a different site by the search engines.

Although there are certain benefits to having download.domain.com, you should only do this when there are clearly defined differences between sections e.g. you might want to do it for different language versions of your site. But not in this case.

You can expect the benefits of this to last a few more months - do some good seo on the pages (write a meta tag mod),

If your domain . com is having good rankings, then you can go for domain . com/downloads

downloads.domain.com would be treated as a seperate domain, and will require seperate optimization strategy.
