Different I guess, some social bookmarking sites are more on just bookmarking URLs from news, blogs, or any part of your page. Social networking sites are sites which not just bookmark your site, but also help you look for friends, add applications from youtube, imeem, or any other sites with widgets.

Social bookmarking is attempting to manipulate your rankings on social bookmarking sites like del.icou.us
Social networking is creating relationships with others in your industry via forums, blog posting, etc.

In my opinion social networking is similar to friendster and other sites that deals in creating friends and sharing your thoughts to others, while social bookmarkings are sites that has a niches that make it specific for a certain users. if you are involve in something or you like something, you can choose what social bookmarkings you want!

Social bookmarking is the process of establishing a network among peers, friends, family and interested guests.
Social bookmarking provides a trail back to your social networking site. That process opens the map so the visitor can find their way directly to your business site.

Social Networking websites are like Orkut, Hi5 and Myspace .... they site provide friends circle and profile building etc... whereas Social Bookmarking websites are like Digg.com .. they are for sharing good websites by bookmarking them..
BOTH are different from each other..
most of the comments are given by those who dont know the difference and are pretending to be expert in their field.

In its simplest form, a social network is a map of all of the relevant ties between the nodes being studied. The existing social networking sites are fantastic as they allow sharing of content between 2 or more users.

Social Bookmarking: As the term denotes, bookmarking is nothing but storing our favorites at a particular place so that it is easy for us to look for the required information rather than waste our time searching for it. Social bookmarking is a way for internet users to store, classify, share and search Internet bookmarks. So, there are certain websites which help us in this concept like Delicious, Digg, Spurl and Magnolia...
