Will I be penalised for having multiple suffixes?

Hi Guys. I have just registered my site and also want to buy my domain in other suffixes (.com, .net, .biz) to help protect my companies identity and want to point these to my .co.uk site.

My question is will I be penalised for this if they are just pointing to my site (there is no hosting involved) and have not been submitted to any Search Engine.

Also I want to puchase certain mispellings of my domain and do the same thing. Is this OK to do?

Thanks

Yeah fairly ok!

Well use one domain as your main site and redirect (301) all other TLDs to that one. This would just do the job for you!

Have you ISP set it up in the DNS server.

You can point all of them to it, but usually you just point two -one the company name and one for SEO. Don't worry the engines may give you positions for both then choose the one they like and the other will fade (just don't register the company name domain with the engines)

just hold onto the rest

Oh one more thing...don't be surprised if they like the company name and it gets higher placement than the seo one.....lol - happens all the time.

the lady that has isellsoap had some advise from a pro

registered "novelty-soap" with the engines

kept the company name (Isellsoap) for referal - the engines (all of them like isellsoap more)

Novelty-soap faded away in the engines and "Isellsoap" took it's place (for a while both were listed under each other).

Sometimes you can't feed those spiders what you think is good for them, they just eat what they like

Your so right on the duel name thing. A very common practice, yet I too am seeing the company name beat out the seo friendly name quite a bit.
