Why do you conclude that half are not "real?"

Not being real is probably the wrong word, I meant to say that if 50% of visitors instantly left the site then you can only work out your conversion on half the number of visitors

That depends on what is deemed to be a conversion.
BTW, have you adjusted for page requests by crawlers/robots/spiders?

Our conversion is measured by bookings to traffic, we do use all the traffic regardless of bounce rate, if we didn't then we wouldn't get a fair reflection of conversion.

But, crawlers/robots/spiders inflate the traffic figure; they are not real visitors.

When the traffic was down bounce rate was low but now when traffic has increased bounce has gone up. What is the cause for it...?

Obviously, getting more low quality traffic, for which there is no single cause.
What recently changed that would increase traffic?
Is the traffic coming from the same sources as before; or, from different ones?
If from different ones, what are the new traffic sources? And, why are you just now getting traffic from them?

friend bounce rate plays a key role when visitors are coming on your site, the bounce rate is count according to time and page views by the visitor.. if a visitor is coming on your site for relevant information, and visitor is able to find relevant information according to need then your site bounce rate will be count good. 0 % bounce rate is best .

If all of your visitors finds exactly what they seek on you landing page, so that they need look no further, and thus then leave, your bounce rate will be 100%
If you read this thread you will learn that there is no bright line re. what is good and bad, that a low rate may not be so good, and that a high rate may very well signal success.

That depends on what your goal(s) is(are); and, the extent to which such is(are) being attained.

Actually, it depends on what your goal or goals are.
For example, if you want people to click on a call-to-action link which takes them to a 3rd party shopping site, so as to be able to purchase your goods, then a high bounce rate would be desired; a low one would mean that visitors were ignoring the call-to-action and instead exploring your site.
While some of those may eventually get to your shopping cart, it would be rare for all of them to do so. So, your ideal here would be a 100% bounce rate.

If your goal for that page in question is for visitors to follow ad links, then you here want a high bounce rate.

It's easily overlooked by many that they may have conflicting goals, such that the bounce rate actually signals the relative degree to which the different goals are being achieved.
For a monetized informational site: - People reading the content across multiple pages yields low bounce rate; but,
- People clicking on ad links on landing page yields high bounce rate.

yeah i got ur point deepsand...i shudnt be worrying more abt bounce rate because it means people are clicking ads (gud for me).i shud only be worrying abt serps
infact the themes built for highest ctr (mfa themes) have the highest bounce rate coz it leaves people with no option but just to click ads
