Depends on a lot more than that.

A landing page which provides exactly what the user is seeking, so that he need look no further, should expect a high bounce rate.

A landing page which interests the user and provides a lot of content, so that he spends more than 30 seconds reading it, should expect a high bounce rate.

A landing page that has a call to action which leads to an off-site page, which includes 3rd party ads, wants a high bounce rate.

My ping rate is varying between 50-60%. I added clicky and is giving me my rate, plus I get to see who is on my site.

Ping rate is neither measured as a percentage nor relevant to bounce rate.

If he finds everything that he needs on the landing page, he will likely not "go on to other pages."

Reducing a bounce rate is helpful in most cases, especially if its your home page.

Making the visitor do additional work simply for the sake of manipulating bounce rate serves no good purpose, and may very well backfire.

Is it true that bad bounce rate affects rankings? This is worrying because paid traffic campaigns can give you 90%+ bounce rate.

Wherever did you grab this number from? And, just what do you consider to be "paid traffic?"

Given that Google cannot know the bounce rates of those pages which do not employ its GA/Urchin analytical scripts, why would they use that for any more than a minor factor, if at all?

The only place where it would be potentially useful would be for personalized search, whereby your particular behavior is observed with respect to whether or not you are Backspacing from pages that you've visited via links in the organic SERPs within a certain amount of time, which is not a measure of the actual bounce rates of such pages.

Nothing, you have a good bounce rate. The lower the number, the more people are clicking within your site from the page they landed on, in most cases they like what they are reading. When your bounce rate is high its because people are leaving your site without clicking on anything.

There is the case of landing pages and once the user clicks they end up on another one of your sites (External Domain) it might even look identical and the landing page will have a 100% bounce rate, however your in charge of your site and you can see exactly why a page has a high bounce rate.

Please learn to read carefully.

It is not the case that reducing the bounce rate improved the site, but rather that improving the site reduced the bounce rate.

Hm-mm; no.

You made the claim that making the visitor do extra work, just so as to manipulate bounce rate, was beneficial.

Prove it.

False.

They may have very well heeded a call-to-action on the landing page that led them off-site, just as the site's own/operator wants them to do.

The bounce rate from search engine is under 45%.

Under 20% ?
So hard to lead.
