But based on what I've read about this forum post, bounce rate is the time that a visitor stays in your website (correct me if I'm wrong)...
My questions are:
Which is better? Having a high bounce rate or low bounce rate?
Does it really affects SEO? If yes, in what way(s)?
I will very appreciate your answers. Thanks!

No bounce rate is NOT how long someone stays on your site. Bounce rate measures whether or not a person will land on your site from any kind of visit and if that person 'bounces' straight back off, i.e. just leaves without looking further into the site. This can be measured by time but only a short period of time, i.e. 30 seconds and then it's not classed as bounce because they could ave found the info they were looking for. It can also be measured by them clicking onto another page within your site.
A low bounce rate is generally more desireable but it depends on your site, i.e. like it's been said before, Wiki won't have a low bounce rate because people will be finding their answers normally on the first page and under 30 seconds.
If you're selling something then a low bounce rate is NEEDED, it's mandatory!
Bounce rate doesn't affect SEO, it's an analytic of your site, not a communication between your webserver and the search bots.

Oh I see... thank you very much for this reply. I thought it has something to do with seo... hehe
For blogs? What do you prefer? a high or low bounce rate? I have the idea about the answer but I'm not so sure...

It depends on how your analytic is measured, i.e. which program you're using to measure the bounce rate. See some programs will count it as a bounce rate if people don't visit more than one page, but that doesn't necessarily mean your visitors aren't getting what they want. So as long as your blog doesn't have a sky high bounce rate, i.e. 65% plus then I would think you're OK below that; hopefully it's measured by the fact that people have stayed at least 30 secs to read the page, rather than click onto another. Blogs are hard to measure for because they also come up in all kinds of searches because everyone has started 'tagging' their blog pages.

The bounce rate differs by niche. I have some websites related to spare time and there is the bounce rate less then 10%. With webmaster related sites, there is the rate over 50%.

About 30 to 40%
Not the best but working on it
Sometimes it's not about the quality of your pages but about geting traffic from the wrong sources

If your user is able to get what they need in one page, whether it be the sale, a lead, or just the information they are hunting for bounce rate is irrelevant.
If you are selling CPM banner ads and are hunting to get maximum page views for revenue purposes of course you'd want a lower bounce rate.
Most of my bounce rates are between 50-70%

I'm having 23% of bounce rate, yes its good but a web analyst once told me that even though your bounce rate is high, you still don't know if the visitor just visited, sometimes, a visitor just needs a few sec. to gain an info in a certain page.
