Post Decrease the bounce rate

1. Most important thing is to aim only the 100% relevant keywords in your niche. If a visitor hits you with a keyword which is out of your sites niche then there's a good chance that she/he will leave your site immediately and increase your bounce rate.

2. Get backlinks only from relevant sites to have well targeted visitors.

3. Clear and user friendly design.

4. Make sure your page loads in fast. Visitors won't wait!

Anyway, I think 29% is fine for bounce rate.

For my 5 month old site webdesignexperts4u.com/, the bounce rate stands at 50%. The only consolation at this point is that some of my article pages have 0 bounce rate.

I can chime in there... I lowered my bounce rate simply by making the page more revant to the search keyword...simpel give the vistor what they want and they will stay on your site longer

Get it lower

Sometimes bounce rate can be a hard thing to lower but what I've found successful is providing clear navigation, less mess in your design or layout, and writing clear and interesting content.

I'm with John... Its too bad Google puts so much emphasis on bounce rate.

Does anyone avoid using Google Analytics for this reason?

I personally have a 50% bounce rate. But I also have a lot of terms pointing to my site that no longer apply - so it should be lower.. (for example, I get visitors all the time looking for web hosting, but I no longer sell it).

Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert. You can minimize bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run. Landing pages should provide the information and services that were promised in the ad copy.

I don't have enough information regarding your blog but for me 70-80% bounce rate is not good for a blog. Definitely not.

somewhere between 40 up to 55% bounce rate, I just used G. analytics recently and actually don't pay much attention on bounce rate. Aiming at number of unique visitors and number of pages generated from that visits ...

The bounce rate on my home page is awful, but I've always attributed it to the fact that I had to choose a fairly broad page title (handmade gift) in order to encompass the various categories of items I sell.

Even on pages with tighter niches, the bounce rate is probably pretty high, but I don't really care if my visitors go on to other pages or not as long as they purchase something on the page their searches led them to.

umh? On google analytics my bounce rate is about 30 or 35%. I think this is bad because to take any benefit from my site one needs to look around to understand but on the other hand, I suppose some will realise that its not what they are looking for also on first visit.

When I first started tracking bounce rate it was around 70-80%. It is now down to around 25-35%. I've found it is different between ppc and organic. Ppc being better as it is more targetted, but I've worked hard to bring the organic down and it is now starting to get better. If you put the time in it will work!

I have a social bookmarking site which hovers around the 40-50% mark. What helps is that it takes a few pageviews to submit your site - which greatly lowers my bounce rate.

I'm not sure what the bounce rate is for my corresponding blog, but it's no doubt much higher....
