Change of folder name

I changed the theme of my website from data entry to Internet marketing. Most of the pages were data entry pages and I changed it to internet marketing related pages. But all these pages are located in the data entry folder and I have not renamed the folder yet. Should I place all my files from data entry folder to the Internet Marketing folder or rename the data entry folder. Will it have any impact on the rankings of the pages?

If I'm understanding you right if you wanting all your links to get redirected then just use a 301 redirect...

Minus the 301 redirect which will mess up all the indexed pages in search engines, at least for a few weeks. Then yes it can make a difference renaming the folder to include a keyword or two from your website, the effect is marginal, but in SEO anything helps to get a footer over your competition. Mind you the time delay for search engines to update is delayed on the upwards of two months or more, at least in my case.

My website went from a e-commerce testing website in December, to a blog the 2nd week of February, and the search engine is still referring people to the old links from test website to this day.
