There's no particular benefit to .edu links over any other type of link, so there's no point focusing on getting .edu links. Get links from related respected sites whenever you can, whatever the TLD.

Before doing SEO I'd consider doing work on your site first! I see your using google analytics . Most people who visit your site will probable leave within 10 seconds. To Google this means your site does not produce much worth - and will not place your site at the top of the search. Build a good optimized site on wordpress and then start doing off site.
