Isn't ask.com the one that is driven more so by inbound links than by spidering? I think I've read that in the past.

Do what now???
Every search engine is pratically driven by links, but Google has more of the market share then anyone and updates your pages faster then any one...
Quite honestly Google is where you should focus on getting traffic from which don't take me wrong don't forget about other search engines.

You should be very thankful that your keywords ranks in google, yahoo and msn. It's the google that gives you a huge number of traffic, not ask.com.

ASK works with the sitemaps.org protocol... have you submitted a sitemap or is being indexed not your problem - just asking about rankings. If it's about rankings... inbound links.

Same here...
I also read this one:

Ask.com is being refocused to build … an engine that answers questions tailored to women searching on health and entertainment.

From this source:

So don't worry much about ask.com

Some people noticed Google results on Ask... And the following news are from the Ask insider:

There is indeed a big shakeup coming. A new Ask. Some think a reduction in workforce is likely. There are no sacred cows, Teoma may be sold or simply abandoned which is hundreds of engineers who work on the core search engine, in place of just using Google's search with our special brand of user interface.

why give importance on ask.
if you ranked no.1 in google for sure you'll gain large traffic.

If Ask will just use google as source for their search results then they should really be disregarded...
I'll just concentrate on Google if that's the case, rank on Google and you'll rank on Ask....

Then I focus more on Google. If your keywords ranks in google, definitely it will rank also in ask.com if that's the case.

If you are getting good ranking in google, yahoo and msn then why are you bothering about getting rank in ask search engine bcoz it is not better than google for traffic generation.

Interesting question, I see that most are saying Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
I'm curious as to how SEO with Ask would be myself. Maybe it's a big niche that can bring you a lot of traffic since the competition is probably close to none.

I have to say that our site rank extremely well across Google, Yahoo and MSN but cant seem to make any headway in ask.com just like yours ..
Why not try to explain to your client that ask.com is doing all kinds of advertising but little or less when it comes to crawling?
Anyway, found this article while searching the web.. But hope it will help..
