SEO Penalty?

I have a site that gets hits from the search engines for my keyterms. However I am only getting a couple of hits and then the ranking drops from the top ten.

It seems all my keyterms get hit and then it drops from the se's. I maybe at #3 listing and then tomorrow comes and not know where to be found. I have over 500 keyterms and this happens all the time.

Is this from a penalty from the se's. Its the same in goolgle and yahoo

I use to have great rankings and would stay at the top for months at a time and know it seems like its only a day at a time

Competition keeps increasing. Keep using your keywords again and make sure that Google indexes your new pages. Update regularly...Google prefers regularly updated Sites more than static ones...

You update it regularly?

Have you got a new site?

If yes so it´s was new site boost and now the site is in sandbox...

This normally happens...
I've already experienced this kind of ranking behavior...
I call this one as "alternate ranking" because my site ranking changes day after day...
Today my site ranks at #8 then tomorrow its no where to be found, the next day it will comeback again and so on...

it's not a penalty.. sites with a very competitive terms normally encounters some drop in rankings

you must to be competitive too., if your rank down with your usual routine on maintaining your rank site., you must double your work for you to counter those sites that ranked above you.,

it normally happens if your site has a high competitors and the only thing to do is to continue Optimizing your site and also update it regularly to neither have a link partners or you may do the link baiting.

It could be algos... Every time when Google, Yahoo, or MSN change algoritms someone drop and someone increse. To avoid this problem you should promote your website by getting backlinks from different sources and websites.

Do you have links from:
1) directories
2) blogs
3) articles
4) social networks
5) social media
6) forums
7) link pages

content pages ... etc.

When you have backlinks from all kind of websites it increase your visability, domain power, and makes search engines think that it is natural links.

Interesting thoughts there.

As far as link building excercise is concerned, one should not concentrate on increase PR of any website. Your sole intention should be to increase search engine rankings.

It could be your site has large amount of competitors.. or sometimes when you've done some changes and updates, your site usually drops its rankings but make sure to continue building links so it'll be back for good..

SEO is a matter of adjustments...
Part of our goal is not only to have decent rankings but to have stable rankings...
Its really getting harder to maintain your keywords on top cause your competitors are not sleeping and they are also finding ways on how to outplay you...
Be competitive to keep up with this tough competition...

Are you talking about new pages you add to your site?
If so, do a google search for FreshBot.
