Is there such a thing as LUCK in SEO ??? Have your say now !!!
Hi Guys,
We all know skill plays a huge part in SEO and I dip my head to those that do well in this area.
BUT - Does anyone think LUCK also plays a part in the theater of SEO and if so how and why?
Let us know your thoughts and see if we can answer this deep philosophical question that torments my mind

SEO requires time, hardwork, knowledge and analysis skills. It isn't something that you base on luck

I think some things you do can bring a surprised or lucky result. But it is all a learning process and some people find methods quicker than others, which may have been a bit lucky in the 1st place.

I agree with you briggidere, I am new to SEO and have spent many, many hours studying SEO, reading articles etc,etc and our site was new in Oct 2007 and just after Christmas we had achieved several page one results on Google for some of our keyword search terms, in fact on Yahoo we have the number 1 position for one of the most competitive search terms "Orlando Villas for Rent".
So yes, lots of hard work and constant tweaks can bring some pleasant surprises.

sometimes we think that we're lucky enough to have good results in seo, but it's really all because of our efforts and hardwork.

Maybe there is a luck in SEO. But the main reason for your site's success was the effort you have done.

It could be a form of luck when someone adds a page from your website to Digg and apart from reaching first page your article gets several links on authority sites. It's also a form of luck when someone adds your site to Stumbleupon and it gets popular resulting in many backlinks.
I've had both happening to sites I own and I think there's an element of luck in there.

How is that luck? If the page wasn't good, (the result of hard work) the odds of it becoming popular on either of those sites is pretty minuscule.
