Google sell their searhc history or company making false claims?

My Dad's company was approached by a company offering SEO services today, and my Dad asked me to check them out. For a fee of £199 and a monthly fee of £100 they change the keywords on your site depending on what people are searching for.

I asked if this was on any search term, but no, its targeted and dependant on the site the work is done on.

The thing is, they GUARANTEE first page listings in 48 working hours. Quite a claim.

How do they do this? I pretended to be a slightly web savvy and was asking a few dumb questions, - they only change the meta keywords, not any of the front end design or wording on the site at all.

They said that they and one other company in the UK and surrounding region have a licence from Google where they are provided with search data from the last xx hours, showing EXACTLY what people are searching for.

Has anyone EVER heard of this before? Google selling their search data and only allowing a couple of companies in on it?

Could it be legit, I doubt it very much, can anyone advise?

Run! Run away!

This is obviously a scam.
Meta keywords are completely useless with regards to Google ranking.
The 48 hours guarantee is not possible.

The claim of a special license for Google search data is a lie. Google has no such exclusive deals with anyone.

Exactly what I thought, but why on earth would they say this then? They are opening themselves up for quite a bit of trouble, I tried contacting google about it but heard nothing back, is there a way to make them aware or the trading standards or something?

They will say it to make a convincing sales argument. People with little web-knowledge might be impressed by their alledged close relationship with Google and fork over some money to be ranked by them.

I don't really know how to alert Google of this phony marketing?

it's an easily measurable guarantee that must be met in a reasonably short period of time. it's a stupid guarantee to make.
