How do you keep your website out of the sand box?
I'm no seo professional but a lot of people have told me that Google will put your website in the "sand box" if it doesn't perform to certain standards. How do you prevent this from happening to your website?

Get a quality, relevant and unique content (the "right" content). Build quality links... Make your site a site that people would want to link to because it has a good and unique topic. Just like what a mod told me about this a few months ago...
"Make yourself useful if you can't make yourself original." - from Sir Ranky
If the competition is high, gather more links to increase your link pop.

Getting IBLs would be the best prevention for this.. Just make sure that the links are quality and related, already cached and indexed

The sandbox is not a penalty. It's a word used to describe the fact that new sites are not likely to achieve a good ranking for a competitive term, until after a period of time.
Some people talk about 3-9 months in the Google sandbox, while other have never experienced it.

The whole snadbox thing is a myth, the best thing to do is avoid bad neighbourhood and you'll be fine. Get good quality links for your site and you will be fine.

The sandbox effect is most pronounced for highly competitive niche websites, think mortgage loans, stuff like that.
Domain age, trusted links, and aged links are the characteristics that eliminate the sandbox effect. If your site is in a less competitive niche then the sandbox period / effect will be lessened.
The thing to do while in the sandbox is to target less competitive long tail keyphrases (like mortage loans smallville) while your domain builds trust and quality and quantity of links.
