domain masking good or bad?

Is domain masking good or bad? I did a search and did not find much on the topic.

What I am doing is fowarding 2 domains (slightly different spellings) to one master domain.

it is fine to forward misspellings to your regular domain. just try to get all the inbound linkage data to the correct spelled one

I think you are convinced that just linking few websites brings the ranking up !!! IT IS NOT TRUE.......

Sure it does. If you link enough you will rank the highest for your KP. Links to bring traffic. They are not just there for looks, people actually click on them.

sorry it took me so long to get back to everyone.
Here is what I am doing.
I am in the process of setting up a new site
no pages are indexed on either site.
(well actually they are the same site just one domain name is hyphenated and one is not)

Just wondering if I should use masking or just fowarding.

I would watch out if both sites are identical. I would probably just use a redirect, but it would behoove you to make the sites a little different.

here is what I am actually trying to do

Website is www.ws-aquarium-supply.com
It is currently not yet complete.
(still adding products and setting up cc proc.)

I also own the domain names wsaquariumsupply.com and ws-aquariumsupply.com

For now I am trying to get all of them to go to the same site so for example a customer types the domain without the hyphens or hyphens in a different order such as ws-aquariumsupply.com the customer is brouht to the site.

just point the other domains at your one that has a site on it. most registrars make it really easy to do that (and usually for free too)

I don't think so. Masking will hide your main domain for those clients, they will still see the 'wrong' domain name in their address bar, also the file names (domain.com/filename.html) will not show for those people when they surf your site. every page will show you wrngdomain.com/ without the extentions. When bookmarking the wrong url will be bookmarked also.

Masking is only for those who have a freehost and want to mask geocity.member/file/index.html with a domain name. When you have a 'real' host, don't bother.
